There is currently widespread debate and controversy surrounding Vince McMahon, a controversial figure in the wrestling world, as he faces serious allegations related to trafficking. Amid all the allegations against him, it appears Jim Ross believes the allegations won’t take away from what he built.
On January 25th, a former WWE staff member named Janel Grant initiated legal proceedings against WWE, John Laurinaitis, and Vince McMahon. The lawsuit alleges that McMahon was involved in incidents of sexual assault, emotional abuse, and sex trafficking, spanning the period from their first encounter in March 2019 to March 2022.
From 1993 to 2019, Jim Ross worked with WWE in various roles. Speaking recently on Grilling JR, he addressed how he believes Vince McMahon’s latest batch of allegations affects his legacy. Ross acknowledged that it has some impact but emphasized that it won’t be an earth-shattering change.
Ross highlighted that McMahon still built an incredible company that many continue to celebrate and benefit from. Ross expressed the need for everyone to move on, find happier days, and build from there.
While acknowledging the ongoing issues, he emphasized the positive impact McMahon had on the wrestling industry, including increased incomes for performers. Ross concluded by expressing gratitude for his time at WWE and his current work with Tony Khan in AEW, emphasizing the importance of building on the positives in the industry.
“It affects it to some degree, but not earth-shattering. It won’t be a big seismic change because he’s still Vince McMahon and he still built this amazing company that many of us are still celebrating and still playing off of. I think it’s time for all of us to move on and find happier days, and build from there. You’ll never be able to take away from what Vince built and how he’s helped a lot of people.’‘
”A lot of guys making a living in pro wrestling right now can look at it in any way they choose, but if they’re being realistic, they look in the mirror and see Vince McMahon staring them in the face because he was the catalyst that created a lot of this change. The incomes went up. I just wish it was over and we moved on and all these issues are settled and we move on to happier days. That’s what the business and world needs, happier days. You still get that with WWE memories, at least I do. I’m very thankful I had a chance to work there and I’m more thankful I have a chance to work with Tony Khan in AEW. We have to build on the positives.”
Vince McMahon was also censored in WWE 2K24 in lot of sections. Ross also believes it is time to move on from Vince McMahon’s allegations. It remains to be seen what will become of McMahon in the end.
