AEW has been bolstering its lineup with high-caliber talent, and the latest addition is none other than Kazuchika Okada. While there was a possibility of him joining WWE, the true reason for his choice in favor of AEW over WWE has now come to light.

Following Okada’s NJPW exit, reports noted that WWE was interested in Kazuchika Okada and there was a chance WWE would end up snatching him up once he became a free agent. Of course, that did not happen in the end.

During the March 6th episode of AEW Dynamite, Kazuchika Okada made a sensational debut, inserting himself into a confrontation involving AEW Triple Crown champion Eddie Kingston and the Young Bucks, who also serve in executive capacities within AEW.

According to Sports Illustrated and discussions with sources linked to AEW and New Japan Pro-Wrestling, Kazuchika Okada believed that AEW provides him with the optimal opportunity for success.

While WWE was a genuine consideration for Okada, and he was enticed by the prospect of participating in WrestleMania, AEW offers the advantage of not requiring him to relocate. This allows him to continue residing in Japan if he prefers and facilitates potential collaborations with The Young Bucks, as well as an extension of his rivalry with Kenny Omega.

”Speaking with sources close to AEW and New Japan Pro-Wrestling, Okada feels he will be given the best opportunity to succeed in AEW. WWE was a real consideration for Okada, and he loved the idea of being part of a WrestleMania. But in AEW, Okada is not forced to relocate, and he can continue living in Japan if he chooses. It also means he can partner with the Bucks, and extend his rivalry with Kenny Omega.”

Kazuchika Okada signed a 3-year deal with AEW and is expected to be a huge figure on weekly television. It remains to be seen whether The Rainmaker will become a huge success in AEW.
