Otis is one of the most reliable mid-card talent in WWE right now, and this included his beloved storyline with Mandy Rose back in 2020. In fact, Otis has revealed how long he waited under the ring to save Mandy Rose at the 2020 Royal Rumble.
During the 2020 Women’s Royal Rumble match, an interesting and unexpected moment occurred when Mandy Rose was seemingly tossed over the top rope by Alexa Bliss. This led many fans to believe that Rose had been eliminated from the match. However, the camera then revealed Rose at ringside, having landed on Otis instead of hitting the floor, creating a surprising turn of events and an amusing twist to her potential elimination.
During a recent interview with Fightful, Otis shared insights into the memorable moment during the 2020 Women’s Royal Rumble match. Reflecting on the experience, Otis recalled a conversation with the ring crew.
“That was quite interesting. I had never been under the ring before. I remember going like, ‘it sounds like it’s going to break.’ Our ring guy Nick goes, ‘imagine when I’m down here and you’re up there buddy. Then it’s going to really break.’”
When asked about the duration of his time under the ring, Otis revealed that he was legitimately waiting under the ring for five entire entrances.
“Probably about five entrances.” He added, “It’s funny because they just know it’s you in a black cape. You can’t hide me.”
Otis and Mandy Rose’s romance storyline ended after WrestleMania 36, something that Mandy Rose felt deserved a better ending. Nevertheless, fans enjoyed Otis and Mandy Rose’s romance storyline and that is what matters in the end.
