Elias was a big example of WWE struggling to find a suitable direction for a specific talent. He was released from WWE last year, and he has now revealed scrapped plans for him at WrestleMania.
Jamal Niaz from For The Love of Wrestling recently sat down with Elijah for an interview. During the interview, the former WWE star reminisced about his participation in segments with John Cena and The Undertaker during WrestleMania 35 and the RAW episode following the grand event. Elijah disclosed that initially, he was slated to have a match against Cena at WrestleMania 35.
“That was a special time man, you know that. First off, that was actually originally supposed to be a match, which I was really excited about. But due to some things and movies and whatever going on, it turned into this Doctor of Thugonomics deal which is so cool.”
The former 24/7 Champion went on to share that he had plans to wrestle The Undertaker at Super ShowDown 2019, but those never came to fruition.
“We had plans for a match in Saudi Arabia following that significant moment on Monday Night Raw. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, the match took a different turn, and ultimately, it became Goldberg I was set to face. Unfortunately, I never got the chance to have that match.”
It is a shame Elias never got to have the aforementioned matches in WWE but now he has a lot of other options following his WWE release. We will have to wait and see what he will do in the end.
