The Rock will remain one of the biggest star attractions for WWE, whether he is on the people’s side or laying the verbal SmackDown on them as seen recently on WWE’s television programming.
The member of the TKO board is expected to be a prime fixture on the road to WrestleMania 40, being embroiled in the heated rivalry between his cousin, Roman Reigns, and the 2024 Royal Rumble winner, Cody Rhodes.
With The Rock selling out arenas and garnering major eyeballs toward the WWE product, it seems that the company wants him for expeditions moving forward as well.
According to the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE wants the blockbuster main event match between The Rock and Roman Reigns to take place at one of their Saudi Arabia shows. While nothing is set in stone at the moment, the belief is that The Rock will be wrestling more than one match in 2024, and WWE is pushing hard for him to work a Saudi pay-per-view show.
“The next Saudi Arabia PPV is 5/25, which will be the day before AEW’s Double or Nothing show. When there was an attempt by some to get Rock to move to a later date with Reigns and keep Cody Rhodes in the spot (while Nick Khan and Ari Emanuel had made the deal, there were people who felt that since the spot was promised to Rhodes last year and they’d been building it, have it be Rhodes at Mania and Reigns-Rock in Saudi with the idea of garnering more money, this would have been that date. When asking if Rock will be working that show, we’re told there are a lot of variables in play and a variety of factors but obviously the company would like it if he would. But while nothing is set in stone, the belief as of right now is that Mania won’t be his only match in 2024 and there is definitely a push to get him to work at least one Saudi Arabia event this year.”
Speaking about his first bout of 2024, The Rock is expected to team up with Roman Reigns to battle Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins on WrestleMania Night 1, with the match possibly being made official on tonight’s edition of Friday Night SmackDown.
