It’s Friday night, and you know what that means! WWE SmackDown will go down tonight, and Ringside News has got you covered with live play-by-play results coverage for the March 8, 2024 episode.

The show opens up with a recap of The Rock challenging World Heavyweight Champion Seth “Freakin” Rollins and “The American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes to a tag team match at WrestleMania 40. We then get video footage of WWE legend Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson arriving to the arena earlier today, along with the arrivals of Undisputed WWE Universal Champion “The Tribal Chief” Roman Reigns, “The American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes and World Heavyweight Champion Seth “Freakin” Rollins.
Corey Graves and Wade Barrett then welcomes us to the show as United States Champion Logan Paul makes his way down to the ring.
Logan Paul starts off by saying he wrestled his first WrestleMania right here in Dallas. Paul also says they will witness history tonight. Paul also says he is a conqueror as he came to WWE to take over. Paul then claims that he had the greatest rookie year of all time and everything he touches turns to gold. Paul then says nobody garners attention like him. Paul then highlights WWE’s success since he arrived and lists some records that have been broken. Paul then says that one could almost say WWE is in its prime. Paul then says that he has a surprise and reveals a PRIME energy logo on the canvas. Paul then announces that PRIME is the first center-ring sponsorship for WWE, starting at WrestleMania and every PLE afterwards.
Paul then brings KSI out, his PRIME business partner. “The Viper” Randy Orton then interrupts Paul’s attempt to take a photo and Orton sneaks into the ring and attacks Paul. Paul then escapes, but KSI gets hit with an RKO. Orton then drags KSI onto the PRIME logo and drinks some PRIME. Orton then says it’s good, but he spills the drink all over KSI.
A video is then shown of WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque marking the milestone of the company reaching 100 million subscribers on YouTube.
We then get the entrances of the first match of the night, which is a Tag Team Match.
The match starts off by Kevin Owens gaining the upper hand early on and Waller tagging in. Owens then tags Orton and both men square off. Orton then nails Waller with a viscous right hand in the corner and knocks Theory off the apron. Owens then tags back in and Theory hits him with a dropkick. Waller then hits Orton with a cheap shot and Theory and Waller take control of this match. Theory and Waller then maintain the advantage in this match as they isolate Orton. Owens then takes Theory out on the outside, but gets dropped by Waller. Orton then hits Waller with a spike DDT. Theory then distracts Orton and Waller regains the upper hand. Owens then hits Waller with a Stunner and sends Theory to Orton, who hits an RKO for the 1-2-3.

After the match, Logan Paul attacks Kevin Owens and Randy Orton from behind. Paul then places the brass knuckles in his hands. Orton then takes the brass knuckles from Paul and tried to hit him with it. Paul dodges and it causes Owens to nearly hit Orton, but Owens stopped at the very last second. Owens and Orton then fist-bumped afterwards as Paul retreated with Waller and Theory.
Security is then shown backstage as they are there to make sure chaos does not ensue later tonight when The Rock, Roman Reigns, Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins are all together in the ring at the same time.
A video package then airs promoting and hyping up the feud between Bayley and WWE Women’s Champion IYO SKY.
We head to the back, where Kayla Braxton is interviewing Bayley. Bayley first talks about the downfall of Damage CTRL. Bayley says Dakota Kai used their history against her and she fell for it. Bayley then says she has made plenty of enemies. Bayley also says most of the things she did, she did for Damage CTRL, but now it’s all backfiring on her. Bayley then says she is all alone and as for WrestleMania, she is more focused and Damage CTRL was wrong to underestimate her. Bayley then vows to break Damage CTRL.
Naomi is then shown watching Bayley’s interview. Bianca Belair approaches Naomi and asks her why and Naomi says she feels bad about Bayley. Belair says she doesn’t feel bad as Bayley created a lot of “mess”. Naomi then sympathizes with Bayley, but Belair says Bayley made her bed, so she has to lie in it. Naomi still feels for Bayley and Belair gets frustrated as she walks away.
We then get the entrances of the next match, which is a Singles Match.
The match starts off with Bobby Lashley controlling the action early on. Kross hits Lashley with a suplex, but Lashley responds with a suplex of his own and sends Kross out of the ring. Lashley then slams Kross into the barricade and goes to slam him into the ring post, but Scarlett gets in the way. Kross then nails Lashley with a stiff shot and sends him into the ring post.
Kross then grounds Lashley and hits him with another suplex. Kross then clotheslines Lashley over the top ropes. Lashley then tries to get back in this match and slams Kross into the ring post. Kross then evades the spear from Lashley as well as the Hurt Lock. Kross then hits Lashley with a modified Death Valley Driver. Lashley then nails Kross with a spinebuster. The Authors of Pain then appear out of nowhere and attack Lashley.

After the match, The Street Profits make their way down to the ring to make the save and brawl with the Authors of Pain. Lashley and Kross are left alone. Scarlett then gets involved and B-Fab chases her off. Lashley then puts Kross in the Hurt Lock, but the Authors of Pain attack Lashley. The Street Profits then try to make the save again, but the Authors of Pain overpower them. Kross and the Authors of Pain gang up on Lashley and Kross slams Lashley. The Final Testament then leaves the ringside area and join Paul Ellering on the ramp.
Commentary then recaps WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio’s return and we see footage of Dragon Lee hanging out with the LWO. Elektra Lopez confronts Lee and says he looks like a little kid dressed up like Rey Mysterio. Lopez also says there is no way he will be the next Rey Mysterio. Santos Escobar, Humberto and Angel then mock Lee. Escobar says Legado del Fantasma is the future and LWO is dead. They push him down and walk away.
We then see a graphic for the 2024 WWE Hall of Fame featuring Paul Heyman, Bull Nakano and the U.S. Express (Mike Rotunda and Barry Windham).
We then get the entrances of the next match, which is a Singles Match.
The match starts off with Tiffany Stratton delivering a hair whip on Michin. Stratton then sends Michin into adjacent top turnbuckles, then hits her with a handspring elbow and follows it up with a double stomp. Stratton then hits a back suplex on Michin and gets her up on her shoulders. Michin escapes and hits a suplex on Stratton. Stratton then hits an Alabama Slam on Michin and follows it up with the Prettiest Moonsault Ever for the win.

“The Phenomenal” AJ Styles then cuts a promo and says LA Knight does not deserve to be in the same locker room as him. Styles then says Knight stole momentum at his expense. Styles also says he understands that this is a cutthroat business, but Knight is overachieving, under-talented and he needs to be humbled. Knight is then shown watching Styles’ promo and he angrily smashes the TV with a chair. Knight says Styles should have a pair and show up next week.
Tyler Bate was then shown playing WWE 2K24 as “The Bruiserweight” Pete Dunne enters the room. Bate pauses the game and goes to see SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis about the unknown Tag Team Championship situation. Once Bate left, Dunne takes the controller and continues to play WWE 2K24.
We then get the entrances of the next match, which is a Singles Match.
The match starts off with Dragon Lee hitting a dropkick to Angel and sending him into the corner. Lee then blasts Angel with a slingshot kick and stomps him in the corner. It seems that Angel landed awkwardly on his leg, so the referee goes to check on him, but it is a trap as Angel blindsides Lee with a kick. Angel then grounds Lee and sends him to the floor with a knee strike.
Lee then tries to get back in the match with a flurry of offense and lands some kicks on Angel. Lee then hits a stomp to Angel from the top of the rope. Angel then rolls to the outside and Lee flies on top of him. Angel then blasts Lee with a superkick, but Lee responds with a hurricanrana for the win.

After the match, Legado Del Fantasma attacks Lee as commentary says that the LWO is not in the building to help Lee out. Santos Escobar, Angel and Humberto then hits Lee with a modified triple powerbomb before standing over him in the ring.
We then head to the back, where Damage CTRL cuts a promo on Bayley. Dakota Kai says she is the brains of the group. Damage CTRL then brags about how Bayley was never part of their vision. Kai then challenges Bayley to a match for next week’s SmackDown.
We then see SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis looking to get “The American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes and World Heavyweight Champion Seth “Freakin” Rollins. Aldis finds their dressing room empty and asks the security standing outside where they are. The security tell Aldis they don’t know. Aldis then takes the security with him to go and find Rhodes and Rollins.
Commentary then runs through the card for next week’s episode of SmackDown.
Undisputed WWE Universal Champion “The Tribal Chief” Roman Reigns, Jimmy Uso, Solo Sikoa and special counsel “The Wiseman” Paul Heyman make their way down to the ring. WWE legend Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson then makes his way down to the ring as well.
Reigns starts off by telling the live fans that greatness stands before them now. Reigns then extends a hand to The Rock, who reluctantly takes it, but they end up embracing. Reigns then tells the live fans to acknowledge The Bloodline. “The American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes and World Heavyweight Champion Seth “Freakin” Rollins then makes their way down to the ring through the crowd.
As soon as Rhodes and Rollins enters the ring, Rhodes says there is a lot of bad blood, but he feels lucky to be standing here. Rhodes also says the four of them should take a moment to feel this. Rhodes then brings up The Rock’s challenge and asks if he has the authority to make that stipulation. Rhodes then says that The Rock acknowledged Reigns as his Tribal Chief last week. As Rhodes was about to give his answer, The Rock tells him to shut up. The Rock says he will drop some gospel on them as he explains that he acknowledged Reigns because they are family. Rock then reiterates his challenge and the stipulations, which states that a win for Rhodes and Rollins would mean that Rhodes’ match against Reigns will be a Bloodline-free match, but a loss would make it a Bloodline Rules match.
Rollins then tells The Rock to shut the hell up. Rollins then says they know the future of the industry is on the line. Rollins then calls The Rock Mr. Mid-Life Crisis and accepts the challenge. Reigns then calls Rhodes an idiot and says his story will be over when he loses at WrestleMania 40. The Rock then says he is their boss and if Rhodes loses at WrestleMania, he will never get another shot at the title. The Rock then highlights Rhodes’ family and says Cody was a mistake. The Rock then stares Rhodes down and Rhodes then slaps The Rock as SmackDown comes to a close.
