The season premiere of AEW Dynamite showcased the aftermath of a very successful AEW Revolution 2024. The 4/6 episode kicked off with Tony Schiavone in the ring to get a world from Swerve Strickland following his loss to Samoa Joe in a 3-way AEW World Championship match at Revolution.

Strickland was welcomed with some massive chants from the fans following which he revealed that he had let everyone down. The former WWE superstar stated that he wasn’t a very deserving candidate for the World Championship at the moment.

When asked about his plans following the disheartening loss, Strickland promised to grind in and work harder. His promo clearly showed that he had turned face, which was hinted at during his match at AEW Revolution 2024 itself.

Following his promo, Samoa Joe came out to begin a war of words before Strickland challenged him for a rematch right there. However, the Undisputed Kingdom then made an appearance boasting about their success with Roderick Strong as the new AEW International Champion and Wardlow as the No. 1 contender for the AEW World Championship.

Soon after a war of words, Joe and Strickland teamed up to face the ROH World Tag Team Champions in a non-title match and picked a win. However, Joe applied the clutch on his former challenger teasing that their feud wasn’t over yet. The next few weeks might reveal what Tony Khan has in store for the newly turned babyface.
