Rhea Ripley defeated Charlotte Flair for the SmackDown Women’s Championship in what was an incredible match-up at WrestleMania 39.
While speaking to Gorilla Position, Rhea Ripley emphasized the importance of a build and storyline leading into a match. She admitted the lack of build and criticized the storyline between her and Charlotte Flair heading into WrestleMania 39, acknowledging that the match itself was phenomenal but felt the story building up was lacking in some places.
“Yeah, of course. The whole build towards the match is the story beforehand. With no story, I feel like, yes, you can still have a great match. Rhea Ripley is currently set to defend her Women’s World Championship against Becky Lynch at WrestleMania 40, while Charlotte Flair is currently recovering from her ACL injury. It remains to be seen whether the two will clash again somewhere down the line.
