Darby Allin has had one of the most remarkable AEW runs ever since he was aligned with The Icon Sting when he came to the land of All Elite in 2021.

The duo went into Sting’s retirement match last week on AEW Revolution as the AEW World Tag Team champions and successfully defended their titles against Matt and Nick Jackson, The Young Bucks.

With Sting riding off into the sunset, AEW President Tony Khan announced during the post-event media scrum that the tag team titles have been vacated with new champions to be crowned soon in an upcoming tournament.

Darby Allin came out on tonight’s edition of AEW Dynamite to acknowledge Sting’s retirement, calling it an honor to be a part of his last match, and credited The Icon for everything he has done for him.

After cutting an emotional promo, Darby concluded by stating that he refused to bring a new partner on board as he believed that no one could take Sting’s place. With that said, Allin left his tag team title belt in the middle of the ring and officially relinquished it.
