Sting has been a mainstay of AEW television since December 2020 and he will be ending his career at Revolution this week. Ahead of his highly anticipated retirement match, Sting’s involvement in the bout has now been revealed.
Sting is set to partake in his final match on March 3rd at AEW Revolution 2024. The WWE Hall of Famer will team up with Darby Allin to defend their AEW Tag Team Championships in a tag team tornado match against the Young Bucks.
While speaking with Shakiel Mahjouri for SHAK Wrestling, Darby Allin was asked to describe how much of Sting’s last match at Revolution was his idea. Allin confirmed that everything has been by Sting’s design, right down to the finest detail.
“Everything. With the Bucks, everything. It’s really awesome, if you really, really think about it, that the fact that this company is letting this man go out on his own terms in his way, with his vision. Because there’s a lot of places that will straight up be like, ‘Alright, you’re retiring, but we’re gonna make sure that you wrestle this guy, and it could be a guy you have no interest in wrestling in,’ and the fact that you have to be tuck your tail between your legs and be a nice, little good boy and get a paycheck and wrestle somebody that you have no desire to wrestle, we’re talking about your career, your life’s work.“
“It’s baffling to me that people are such little b*tches [laughs]. But yeah, anyways, Sting, he’s doing it his way. He’s doing it his way, and it’s amazing, and it’s awesome that AEW’s giving him that.”
Sting will also main event the AEW Revolution pay-per-view on March 3rd. Many people have paid tribute to Sting already, including Malakai Black. It remains to be seen whether Sting will retire undefeated in tag team competition at AEW Revolution.
