Earlier this week, the wrestling community mourned the loss of Virgil, who served as the bodyguard to Ted DiBiase in the WWE. Virgil, whose real name was Michael Jones, succumbed to health complications following a battle with dementia and multiple strokes, two of which occurred in February.

Reports indicate that Virgil passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family. However, it’s been revealed that he did not have life insurance, leaving his family with the burden of covering funeral expenses.

A close friend of Jones, Mark Charles III, was present during his passing and has initiated a GoFundMe campaign to assist the family during this challenging time. The fundraiser aims to alleviate the financial strain on Virgil’s family as they prepare to lay him to rest. The funeral expenses are due on March 11, 2024, and any contributions would be greatly appreciated by Virgil’s loved ones.

Whether fans remember him from his days in the 80s WWF or during his time with the nWo as Vincent or Soul Train Jones, the fundraiser seeks to honor Virgil with the dignified farewell he deserves.

The fundraiser, organized by Mark Charles III on behalf of Michael Jones’ sister, Toni Jones, invites contributions from anyone who wishes to support Virgil’s family during this difficult period.

Virgil, a native of Pittsburgh, was initially reported to have passed away at the age of 61, but there have been conflicting reports suggesting he was actually 72 at the time of his passing.

If you’d like to extend your support to Virgil’s family, you can donate to the fundraiser here.
