The Rock made headlines when Cody Rhodes temporarily relinquished his WrestleMania 40 spot to him, but the situation changed after the WrestleMania press conference. With that said, it appears WWE believes The Rock will have an extended program after WrestleMania 40.
In a pivotal segment on Friday Night SmackDown a couple of weeks ago, The Rock aligned himself with The Bloodline, addressing WWE fans for seemingly favoring Cody Rhodes over his impending clash with Roman Reigns. This electrifying promo significantly intensified anticipation for The Rock’s return to in-ring action.
According to Dave Meltzer on the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it was reported that there is an expectation of increased media coverage at WrestleMania this year due to Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s involvement and the overall popularity of WWE. This level of media attention is anticipated to be the highest since the first three mainstream WrestleMania events.
The presence of The Rock on the show has generated significant interest, and there’s a belief that the recent developments can be seen as a blessing in disguise. It’s speculated that Johnson might be involved in more activities leading up to WrestleMania, and the delay in his match against Roman Reigns is seen as an opportunity for him to engage in additional events.
‘‘Expect a level of media coverage at Mania this year due to Johnson and just the popularity of WWE like probably since the first three Manias mainstream. Johnson being on the show has opened up a ton of interest and right now they consider what happened a blessing in disguise with the belief Johnson will probably do more now because he can get to Reigns later rather than just do that match.”
Ringside News has also exclusively reported that WWE has multiple pitches for The Rock at WrestleMania 40. Nevertheless, we will have to wait and see how The Rock will be booked as we head towards the Show of Shows.
