WWE Hall of Famer Kevin Nash has accomplished a lot in the business and has a lot of friends in the industry as well, which includes Sting. He raised eyebrows after stating he can’t attend Sting’s retirement match and he finally decided to clear the air on the matter.
In case you didn’t know, Sting will have his final match on March 3rd at AEW Revolution 2024 and the WWE Hall of Famer is scheduled to partner with Darby Allin to defend their AEW Tag Team Championships in a tag team tornado match against the Young Bucks.
Kevin Nash recently revealed that he will not be able to attend Sting’s retirement match, claiming that WWE wouldn’t allow him to go there. Fans believed he was under WWE’s payroll as well.
While speaking on a recent episode of the Kliq This podcast, Kevin Nash clarified the reason why he won’t attend Sting’s retirement match. Nash noted that as a WWE-associated individual, he can’t be present at an AEW event.
Nash emphasized his reluctance to attend wrestling events in general, stating he hasn’t been to any WrestleMania, RAW, SmackDown, or other pay-per-views. He expressed a preference for a more reclusive lifestyle, citing his aversion to being around crowds, especially within the wrestling community.
“I never said that (that I was on the WWE payroll),” Nash said. “What I said is I’m a WWE guy. I can’t have a picture of me in the crowd and underneath it says, ‘Is all Elite.’ I just can’t have that. It just doesn’t work. One of my closest fu**ing friends is Paul Levesque. As much as I love Steve and I know he will only have one last match, I will watch it. We will talk about it. I haven’t been to a WrestleMania, a RAW, a SmackDown, or any of the other pay-per-views. I haven’t been to any events. I don’t want to go to any place and be around a bunch of people, let alone wrestling people. I just don’t want to do it. I’m a hermit and that’s it.”
Kevin Nash will certainly watch Sting’s last match but he simply will not be able to attend the event. Nevertheless, fans will understand why Kevin Nash made such a decision and accept it in the end.
