Drew McIntyre has experienced a major resurgence with the beginning of a new year, gaining back the momentum he once had during his impressive reign as the WWE champion back in 2020.
However, a major part that helped resurrect Drew’s push into the main event came at the expense of The Best in the World, CM Punk. The tirade began with McIntyre injuring Punk at the 2024 Royal Rumble show and taking him out at WrestleMania 40.
McIntyre then continued his menacing antics week after week, leaving no stone unturned to mock CM Punk’s injury and failure to achieve his lifelong goal of main eventing the biggest show in the history of the business, WrestleMania.
As for Drew, he is indeed Mania-bound following his huge victory inside the Men’s Elimination Chamber last week in Perth, Australia. The win guaranteed him a World Heavyweight title opportunity against Seth Rollins at The Show of Shows this year.
Following his appearance on RAW tonight, McIntyre took to his X to announce that he would dedicate his WrestleMania bout to the fallen CM Punk, firing yet another shot at him.
“This World Title match is for you, Punk 🙏 #GetWellSoon #WrestleMania.”
As it is well known, it was originally supposed to be CM Punk slated to win the Elimination Chamber match and move on to WrestleMania 40 to face Seth Rollins before being sidelined with a triceps injury. So this was a direct attack on the destiny that awaited the former WWE champion before the unfortunate incident happened.
