Andrade El Idolo’s return to WWE and his choice to join Monday Night RAW have ignited excitement among wrestling fans. His memorable appearance in the Men’s Royal Rumble match added to the anticipation. In light of this, Andrade has disclosed why he avoided joining SmackDown and went to RAW instead.
WWE decided to hype up Andrade El Idolo’s resurgence with a video package on last week’s episode of Monday Night RAW. Naturally, this made fans excited about what the company had in store for him.
While speaking on La Previa de WWE, Andrade El Idolo shared insights into his choice to join Monday Night RAW over Friday Night SmackDown, citing the desire to work with different faces and the scarcity of Latinos on the RAW roster.
“Well, there were many things. One of them was because there are a lot of Mexicans and Latinos on the SmackDown roster, which I respect and is great, and there aren’t many Latinos on the RAW roster if you think about it. Many people asked me why I didn’t come with Garza, Humberto, or Zelina [Vega], they’re amazing superstars, they’re from Mexico, they’re great, and they have a history.”
Andrade expressed respect for the Mexican and Latino talent on SmackDown but emphasized the appeal of facing new challenges and bringing diversity to the RAW brand.
“But I’ve already faced Garza, I’ve already faced Humberto, I’ve already faced [Rey] Mysterio, and I was with Zelina for a while. I’ve faced Carlito. I’ve seen enough of Mexico against Mexico. There are hardly any Latinos and Mexicans on RAW. That was a part of my decision, that was the most important thing.”
WWE’s long-term plans for Andrade El Idolo have also been revealed. It remains to be seen whether Andrade El Idolo will receive the star treatment and eventually become a champion.
