Injuries are a common occurrence in WWE and the world of professional wrestling, often resulting in premature retirements. One individual who has been absent from competition for an extended period due to injury is Corey Graves. However, Graves is still said to have urges for an in-ring return.
Corey Graves was an active in-ring star in NXT, participating in matches regularly. However, he had to retire in 2014 due to concussions. Since then, there have been numerous instances where fans wondered if Graves would ever make an in-ring return.
Graves demonstrated his skills in NXT and secured the NXT Tag Team titles with Adrian Neville (PAC). His last match occurred nine years ago at WrestleMania Axxess against Troy McClain. Since then, Graves has effectively transitioned to a notable career outside the wrestling ring.
While speaking with Fightful.com, Corey Graves’ brother Sam Adonis, expressed his desire to share a wrestling ring with Graves at some point. Adonis revealed that since childhood, their dream had been to main event WrestleMania against each other.
Although Graves was injured, Adonis mentioned that Graves is now cleared, and if the opportunity arises, he would love to be in the ring with his brother, whether in a tag team capacity or a singles match.
“Honestly, I was devastated when he was injured in the first place. Just like any group of brothers, my dream—I don’t know about his, but—main eventing WrestleMania against Corey Graves is what we’ve thought about since we were children. I thought it would have been excellent. He eventually got hurt and as far as I know, he’s cleared right now. I don’t know the circumstances of that. I’m very far removed from the inner workings of WWE. They seem to be knowing what they’re doing.”
Adonis highlighted Graves’ passion for wrestling, acknowledging that he still has the urge to perform while recognizing his intelligence and expertise in his current role. Adonis trusts the process and leaves the possibility open for a future collaboration in the ring.
”So I trust the process. If it’s meant to be then it’s meant to be, but one of these days, I would love to be in the ring with my brother, whether it’s in a tag team capacity or in a match. Who’s to say when or where that would be possible, but I know he still has the urges to be in the ring. He still wants to be a performer, but he’s also a very intelligent man and he knows he’s very good at what he does. I don’t think anyone’s going to defraud him or anybody is gonna try to make him give up what he has to attain something different when this right now is so valuable.”
Corey Graves will continue to shine in his role as a commentator, but an in-ring return could very well happen one day as Graves previously confirmed he is open to competing again after receiving medical clearance for the same.
