Injuries have taken out a lot of top-notch talent in WWE lately. From Braun Strowman to CM Punk, numerous big names have been out of action and a long rehabilitation awaits them before they step foot in the squared circle again.
However, one massive name who hasn’t wrestled in more than 14 months is former United States Champion Robert Roode. The latter had a neck fusion surgery back in December 2022 followed by another one in May 2023 keeping him out of action since June 2022.
While millions must be wondering where the former 24/7 Champion has been lately, Roode made an appearance on the Insight podcast recently to give an update. The 47-year-old is medically cleared to compete in the ring once again. However, being in his late 40s, Roode competing in the squared circle full-time doesn’t seem to be a good decision to him.
However, the former NXT Champion has been enjoying his role as a producer in WWE, which was his initial goal when he landed a job in WWE. With his neck not being a 100%, Roode’s return to the ring is still uncertain.
“Ironically enough, I just got green-lighted. The fusion has completely fused. So as far as looking at it from a medical point of view, it’s safe to get back in the ring I guess. But at almost 48 years old, given the opportunity I’ve been given now, to work as a producer, which was my goal coming to WWE almost eight years ago, I’m quite happy doing this. And I feel like I’ve had a good run as they say and I’m happy to be doing what I’m doing now.”
Robert Roode last wrestled in a WWE live event in Texas on June 25, 2022 where he ended up on the losing end against a ferocious Omos.
