The date and venue for the highly anticipated third annual AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door pay-per-view event have reportedly been disclosed.
For the past two years, AEW and New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) have collaborated to deliver the Forbidden Door pay-per-view event, showcasing thrilling matchups and groundbreaking moments.
The inaugural edition of the event took place at the United Center in Chicago, featuring a headline match between Jon Moxley and Hiroshi Tanahashi to determine the interim AEW World Champion.
Last year’s event, hosted at the ScotiaBank Arena in Toronto, boasted a historic main event matchup between Bryan Danielson and Kazuchika Okada, marking the first-ever encounter between the two superstars.
According to an update from Andrew Zarian, this year’s Forbidden Door event is slated for June and is scheduled to be held at Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York City. Notably, Arthur Ashe Stadium has been the venue for the AEW Grand Slam special event since 2021. However, there will be a change in venue this year, as AEW Grand Slam is set to occur at the Louis Armstrong Arena, located on the same campus as Arthur Ashe Stadium.
“AEW will hold the Forbidden Door PPV at Arthur Ashe Stadium in NYC this June!”
This announcement sets the stage for another groundbreaking collaboration between AEW and NJPW, promising fans an unforgettable night of action in the heart of New York City.
