Austin Theory is steadily building his reputation as one of WWE’s up-and-coming talents. He even had a memorable segment with The Rock last year and unsurprisingly, Theory has now taken credit for The Rock’s credit.
During the September 15, 2023 episode of SmackDown, Austin Theory confronted a returning Pat McAfee. It was then followed by The Rock returning after almost four years and immediately shutting down Theory on the microphone. The Rock then hit his signature spinebuster and People’s Elbow on Theory for good measure.
While speaking to The West Sport, Austin Theory talked about The Rock returning to WWE television after almost four years back in 2023. Theory took credit for The Great One’s return, cleaning that he inspired The Rock to make his comeback.
“I guess you really have to ask the Rock what that felt like. He went out there with Austin Theory, and i was out there with Pat McAfee doing my own thing, but The Rock came out because The Rock wants to be popular again. He got 150 million views with Austin Theory, at the time. It’s probably like 200, 300 million now.“
“For me, it was just another day at work but for The Rock, look what it’s done for him. I mean, it promoted him to being with the board of directors at TKO. He’s really inspired by me. He’s done a lot of things and look at him now. There’s a whole bunch of controversy that he stole Cody’s story. Am I responsible for that? I mean, I did inspire The Rock. Austin Theory inspired The Rock. You hear that? We all know it, we all know it.”
Austin Theory also threw down challenge to The Rock. We will have to wait and see whether Theory and The Great One will have a confrontation again, now that The Rock is back on WWE television as part of The Bloodline.
