Jeff Hardy hasn’t had the best of luck lately in AEW, as he recently suffered an injury at the hands of Sammy Guevara. That streak of bad luck continued on Dynamite as AEW ended up nixing a key role for Hardy on the show.

As mentioned earlier, Sammy Guevara squared off against Jeff Hardy in a singles match during the recent AEW Rampage tapings. Regrettably, the match has sparked concerns about Hardy potentially sustaining a concussion, as Guevara’s knee came into contact with Hardy’s face during the bout.

While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer reported that Jeff Hardy was supposed to play a significant role on this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite, but it was nixed in the end.

There were a couple of other people. Jeff Hardy was supposed to be on the show in a key role was because they didn’t know if Sting would be able to come.”

Jeff Hardy ultimately suffered broken nose due to the move. Eric Bischoff accused AEW’s culture of high-risk moves for the injury as well. Only time will tell when Hardy will be able to make his return to the squared circle.
