CM Punk was put out of action due to a triceps injury he suffered at the hands of Drew McIntyre during the 2024 Royal Rumble event. He’s expected to be on sidelines for months, but he’s continuously finding ways to be a part of the road to WrestleMania 40. Recently, Punk opened up about his injury and his plans for a comeback.
CM Punk was all set to face Seth Rollins at WrestleMania, but those plans were put on hold due to his triceps injury. While speaking to ESPN at UFC 298 on February 17 in Anaheim, CA, Punk shared his comeback plans and talked about the mental challenges he’s facing.
“I’m only about two weeks post-op. It’s more mental than anything. Pain is, whatever, you know? Like, we all deal with it. I’m just more heartbroken. Was kinda on a roll, was looking forward to a lot of cool opportunities coming up and for that to get paused while I had just returned to the WWE sucks. But I know those same opportunities will be there, and it’s just life. It’s an occupational hazard, you get knocked down, you get back up. Wash, rinse, repeat.“
Punk revealed that he is currently two weeks post-op and facing the mental hurdles of the injury. He added that he’s “hearbroken” that he’ll have to miss out on opportunities following his return to WWE. However, despite the setback, he’s optimistic about his return and said that the injury is a part of “occupational hazard.”
Punk admitted that he must maintain this optimistic approach about his injury or he will go insane. He also revealed that he did have a “good cry about it” the night it happened. It remains to be seen how long will Punk will be on the sidelines. Stay tuned to Ringside News for more!
