The Rock has been regarded to be one of the smartest businessmen in the world, apart from the immense stardom he achieved through his WWE and Hollywood stints.
He and his ex-wife bought the XFL as a beacon of opportunity for football aspirants who hoped to make it to the big leagues, a feat The Great One himself failed to achieve back in the day.
But after his XFL venture suffered major losses, he and his ex-wife and business partner, Dany Garcia announced the merger of XFL and USFL, thereby incorporating The UFL back in December 2023.
It was further announced that their inaugural season game would take place on March 30, 2024, and broadcast on FOX and ESPN. With the timeline of the match rapidly approaching, The Rock took to his Instagram to hype the inaugural UFL game while being ready to deliver incredible opportunities for the players looking to make it big.
“We’re getting hyped to kickoff our UFL SEASON 🏈 MARCH 30th on @FOXSports
XFL Champs vs USFL Champs launches our inaugural season 🔥🏟️☝🏾
As a league owner – I just want to deliver amazing spring football to the fans, create incredible opportunities for the players and enjoy my ice cold @teremana…
and not in that order 😉🥃👊🏾
Thank you to everyone out there for all the amazing support.
Boys are back.
March 30th.
#UFL 🏈
#FoxSports
#Disney.”
With The Rock set to make history like only he can with the UFL, it would be interesting to see how this merger pans out and if it fetches better results for The Rock as a business and for the players involved in terms of making it to the big time.
