WWE Hall of Famer ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin remains one of the most significant names in pro wrestling history. He loves the world of MMA and is aware of how WWE and the UFC are now under the TKO umbrella, which is why he has now named a couple of UFC stars whom he feels can crossover to WWE.
Since the merger of WWE and UFC into TKO, there has been speculation about potential cross-promotion and fighters transitioning from MMA to WWE. On the other hand, there’s curiosity about whether certain WWE talent may consider making the jump to MMA.
While speaking during a conversation with Marc Raimondi of ESPN, Steve Austin was asked about potential UFC fighters who could transition to WWE. He mentioned former UFC Middleweight Champion Sean Strickland and top UFC welterweight contender Colby Covington.
“If I’m going right now, I’m going to Sean Strickland, and I like Sean Strickland. Boy, he stays economic right now in the octagon, but what a promo, and so then I go Colby Covington, all the trash talk, all the athletic ability guy never runs out of gas. He’s always in shape and talks of a mean streak, and it could back it up. He’s very exciting. He has that X factor that you always look for. He’s doubled tough.”
Michael Chandler appeared on this week’s episode of Monday Night RAW and called out Conor McGregor for a fight. We’ll have to wait and see whether Strickland or Covington will one day make their way to WWE.
