The Rock’s impactful return briefly eclipsed Cody Rhodes’ expected WrestleMania 40 slot, but the situation was resolved. He then delivered a compelling villainous promo on last week’s Friday Night SmackDown. However, Eric Bischoff isn’t exactly happy about The Rock turning heel last week.
In the final segment of last week’s Friday Night SmackDown, The Rock revealed his alignment with The Bloodline, criticizing WWE fans for preferring Cody Rhodes as WrestleMania 40’s headliner over witnessing his showdown with Roman Reigns.
While speaking on Strictly Business, Eric Bischoff admitted to finding it challenging to see The Rock in a villainous role. Despite his reservations, Bischoff acknowledged that if that’s the direction The Great One chooses, he would give him the benefit of the doubt and observe how the storyline develops.
“Let’s see how it plays out. I’m having a hard time. My visceral reaction is: ew, why? No. But, look, he’s an amazing performer and if that’s what Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has decided that’s what he wants to do, then I would definitely give him the benefit of the doubt. Let’s see where it goes.”
Ringside News also exclusively reported that multiple key figures were involved in The Rock’s promo segment. It remains to be seen how WWE will continue to book The Bloodline storyline as we slowly approach WrestleMania 40.
