Cody Rhodes undeniably forms a unique connection with fans, establishing him as a genuine man of the people in WWE. The past couple of weeks have been a whirlwind for Rhodes, especially after his interactions with The Rock. In light of this, an AEW star has revealed what he texted Cody Rhodes following the infamous segment with The Rock.
During the February 2nd edition of Friday Night SmackDown, The Rock confronted Roman Reigns, intensifying the episode’s conclusion. Cody Rhodes introduced The Great One, relinquishing his WrestleMania 40 title shot and causing outrage among fans.
This led to fans rallying for The Rock to give Cody Rhodes his WrestleMania 40 spot back as well. Thankfully, Rhodes would pick Roman Reigns as his WrestleMania 40 opponent in the end.
While speaking in a recent interview with Boxing Scene, Anthony Ogogo shared his feelings about witnessing his former rival interact with the world’s biggest entertainment star, along with the text he sent to The American Nightmare after the encounter.
“I saw Cody in the ring with The Rock the other day, I saw it on YouTube, over a 100m views or whatever and I thought…,”
Ogogo pauses, a shake of the head and he presses his lips together.
“I took a screenshot. And I just thought, ‘F**k. I was in the ring with him a couple of years ago, now he’s in with the biggest star in the world’. Everyone knows The Rock.
“I’m happy for Cody. He’s a very good professional wrestler. He’s worked hard. He’s bet on himself. I’m happy for him.”
“And I text Cody and said, ‘Mate, this is one of the coolest things I’ve seen in a long time. Buzzing for you. Go get it’. That’s what I text him. And I mean that, it’s a big thing for him.”
Anthony Ogogo made his AEW debut back at Double or Nothing in 2021, where he was beaten by Cody Rhodes. Nevertheless, Ogogo will continue to support Rhodes no matter what, as The American Nightmare is determined to finally finish the story.
