The Rock has been grabbing headlines ever since he came back and temporarily stole Cody Rhodes’ WrestleMania 40 spot. After that issue was rectified, The Rock made his presence felt on SmackDown this week and had an out-of-character interaction with fans after the show went off the air.
During the final segment of this week’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown, The Rock made it clear he was joining The Bloodline and criticized WWE fans for preferring Cody Rhodes to headline WrestleMania 40 over seeing him face Roman Reigns.
After the show ended, The Rock exchanged handshakes with fellow Bloodline members. Once Roman Reigns and the rest went backstage, The Brahma Bull dropped his heel persona and spent time engaging with fans.
The Rock’s post-show behavior mirrored events from 21 years ago. Leading up to WrestleMania 19in 2003, the ex-WWE Champion criticized the Toronto crowd on RAW. Similarly, that night after the show concluded, he once again broke character and interacted with fans.
With The Rock now part of The Bloodline, the outcome of the closing moments of WrestleMania 40 is uncertain. We will have to wait and see whether Cody Rhodes will be able to finish the story at the Showcase of The Immortals.
