WWE recently released a video highlighting the history of Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns as part of The Shield, but notably omitted Dean Ambrose/Jon Moxley from the footage.
This move comes amidst Rollins’ recent promo exchange with Cody Rhodes on Raw, where Rollins hinted at a potential alliance with Rhodes against Reigns and The Rock.
During the promo, Rollins referred to himself as the “only man on earth uniquely suited to be your shield,” a clear nod to his past with Reigns in The Shield. However, WWE’s new video focusing on Rollins and Reigns’ history deliberately cropped out shots featuring Ambrose, seemingly downplaying his role in the group.
Ambrose departed WWE in 2019 after declining to renew his contract, subsequently joining AEW as Jon Moxley, where he has since established himself as a top star.
The editing of the video to minimize Ambrose’s presence suggests WWE’s efforts to distance themselves from the wrestler formerly known as Dean Ambrose, now Jon Moxley, despite his significant contributions to The Shield’s legacy.
Meanwhile, tonight’s SmackDown is set to feature appearances by The Rock and Roman Reigns, adding further intrigue to the ongoing storyline involving Reigns and potential challengers, including Seth Rollins. As a reminder, Ringside News will have live play-by-play coverage of the event.
