Santos Escobar executed a heel turn by attacking Rey Mysterio back in November, serving as a means to write Mysterio off WWE television as he underwent knee surgery. Currently in the process of recovery, Mysterio is nearing his much-anticipated return to the ring.
Prior to his hiatus, Mysterio lost the United States Championship to Logan Paul at WWE Crown Jewel, prompting speculation among fans regarding WWE’s plans for him post-defeat.
Mysterio had previously indicated around Christmas of last year that he was four weeks into his recovery journey. Although he initially aimed for a comeback at the Royal Rumble last month, this did not materialize.
According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it’s reported that Rey Mysterio’s return is imminent, with just a few weeks left before he can resume competition.
“Rey Mysterio’s return now looks to be in a few weeks. He was hoping for late January but is pretty close to being ready to return.”
With his return on the horizon, speculation arises regarding potential feuds with either Santos Escobar or Logan Paul. As anticipation builds, fans eagerly await the return of The Master of The 619 to WWE programming.
