Speculation surrounds Drew McIntyre’s future with WWE, as reports indicate his contract is set to expire this year. With the clock ticking down on his contract, he still has yet to sign a new deal with the company but WWE is working with the belief he will sign in the end.
As reported earlier, Drew McIntyre was considering different options as his contract neared expiration. Nevertheless, numerous fans firmly believe that it’s highly unlikely for McIntyre to leave WWE.
Reports then suggested that Drew McIntyre and WWE have likely reached a new agreement after The Scottish Warrior was advertised for the live events in Italy in May this year.
While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted Drew McIntyre has not yet signed a new deal with WWE. However, Meltzer mentioned that McIntyre is content with his new character and enthusiastic about it. The expectation is that he is likely to stay with WWE, but nothing is confirmed until a new deal is signed.
”The answer to that is no he has not signed a new deal, but he seems very happy so far with his new character and he’s really excited about it, and they’re working with the idea that he’s not going anywhere. “But nothing’s signed. I think the talk of him taking a lot of time off and everything like that – probably not. He’ll probably sign a new deal. But it’s still just a ‘probable’ until it happens.”
Drew McIntyre is set to square off against Cody Rhodes on next week’s episode of Monday Night RAW, so he has other things to keep him busy till then. Only time will tell if McIntyre will stick with WWE in the end.
