WWE’s press event in Las Vegas, launching WrestleMania 40, generated immense anticipation. Fans were eagerly seeking confirmation on whether The Rock would headline this year’s Show of Shows. Now it appears the event set an unprecedented record.
The whole ordeal took place on the T-Mobile Arena stage, with The Rock, Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, and Cody Rhodes setting the direction for WrestleMania 40. While a dream showdown between The Rock and Reigns seemed imminent, Cody Rhodes opted to face Reigns, determined not to let The Great One steal his story.
Tensions rose, leading to The Rock slapping Cody Rhodes after he targeted The Bloodline’s ancestors and then a shouting contest ensued, making it clear the event was going to be a success.
WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H took to Twitter and thanked fans for the WrestleMania 40 Kickoff viewership. He shared a graphic revealing impressive statistics, including a WWE record of 100,000,000 social views in the first 12 hours and over 4,700,000 live viewers across all social platforms. The Kickoff was highlighted as the most-viewed non-in-ring event livestream of all time.
”Thank you to everyone who watched the #WrestleMania XL Kickoff. The Road to @WrestleMania is just getting started…”
We will have to wait and see how WWE will be booking everyone involved in the coming months, as we are on the Road to WrestleMania 40 and anything could happen every single week.
