Cody Rhodes deeply connects with fans, epitomizing the role of the people’s champion in WWE. He wasn’t on WWE television this week but did compete after the cameras stopped rolling. However, WWE altered plans for Rhodes for this week’s show.

Cody Rhodes was advertised for SmackDown this week but did not make an appearance during the episode. Furthermore, no one else involved in the WrestleMania 40 Press Conference fallout, except for Triple H, Nick Aldis, and Adam Pearce, was featured.

After Friday Night SmackDown concluded, Cody Rhodes duked it out with Solo Sikoa in a singles match. Unsurprisingly, he handed the young Samoan another loss.

According to Sean Ross Sapp behind Fightful’s paywall, it was reported that The American Nightmare was initially set to square off against Jimmy Uso, but WWE opted to use Solo Sikoa in the end.

”Cody Rhodes was originally listed as facing Jimmy Uso in a dark match after WWE Smackdown, but ended up facing Solo Sikoa.”

Cody Rhodes is set to square off against Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40, but it is to be noted that the WrestleMania 40 main event could very well change again. We’ll have to see what will become of Cody Rhodes at the Show of Shows.
