Despite having a substantial fan base eager to witness her make a significant impact in WWE, Aliyah was released by the company in September of last year. Konnan recently stated that Aliyah was almost anorexic skinny and now he was called out for his remarks.
Aliyah’s time in WWE was not without a lot of drawbacks and constant delays. During her prolonged absence from WWE television, Aliyah even vented her frustrations regarding her status in the company.
While speaking on the Keepin’ It 100 podcast, Konnan discussed the reasons behind Aliyah’s release and highlighted concerns he observed in the former champion during her tenure with the company. He would also state that Aliyah was almost anorexic skinny.
“Yeah, she was hot, but like Disco [Inferno] says they have a lot of hot girls, especially in NXT waiting to come up. She must’ve done something where they didn’t see anything in her. My problem with her was that her work was not that good, okay? And, she was like almost anorexic skinny. I was like this girl needs a steak or a protein drink or both.”
NXT Superstar Karmen Petrovic took to Twitter and commented on what Konnan had to say, as she blasted Konnan and told him not to comment on women’s bodies.
”Since when does body size/shape/figure translate to athletic ability? especially in a sport as versatile as pro wrestling.. stop commenting on women’s bodies..”
The former WWE Superstar previously revealed that she would be guest DJ Remix Rumble, which is a pro-wrestling-themed night club. She had a great time there and fans enjoyed what they saw.
Aliyah also claimed that fans disliked her because she chose not to collaborate with any exclusive content sites. The future for Aliyah remains uncertain, as she expressed her determination to carve out her own path following her release from WWE.
