WWE’s press event in Las Vegas to kick off WrestleMania 40 had a lot of hype behind it, as fans just wanted an answer to whether The Rock would main event the Show of Shows this year. It appears the anticipation helped them greatly, as quite a few of The Rock’s segments at the presser drew insane YouTube numbers.
The entire controversy unfolded on the T-Mobile Arena stage, featuring The Rock, his cousin Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, and Cody Rhodes, all brought together to set a clear direction for WrestleMania 40.
While The Rock and Roman Reigns appeared aligned for a dream showdown at the Show of Shows, Cody Rhodes was determined not to let the Samoan family stars overshadow his moment and opportunity and chose Reigns as his WrestleMania 40 opponent.
The Rock eventually slapped Cody Rhodes across the face after the latter went after The Bloodline’s ancestors. The whole show had a lot of Attitude Era vibes to it, blended with realism. Therefore it’s no surprise that the entire press conference got over 2 million views on YouTube.
The whole segment with The Rock and Cody Rhodes also crossed 2 million. The Rock slapping Cody Rhodes and subsequently cussing out Triple H got a ton of views as well, for good measure.
Following the events at the WrestleMania 40 kickoff press event, there’s speculation that fans could witness a tag team match on Night One of WrestleMania 40, featuring The Rock and Roman Reigns against Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins. The unfolding storyline will determine how this matchup is booked in the coming weeks.
