Over the past five years, AEW has undergone quite a few changes, not all of which have been well-received. The company has faced backstage controversies since 2022, contributing to a toxic environment. However, recent developments indicate improved backstage morale for AEW.

Since the 2022 All Out media scrum featuring CM Punk, AEW has found itself at the center of numerous controversies. Following this event, various backstage issues emerged, leading fans to perceive AEW as having excessive and unnecessary drama.

AEW is currently navigating a crucial period as they aim to secure a new television media rights deal by the year’s end. Simultaneously, they are working to bring back fan interest following a decline in television ratings and live attendance.

According to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it was reported that the backstage morale in AEW has seen a noticeable increase lately, with Meltzer stating that it is the highest it has been in some time.

“A couple of people have noted that the morale has really picked up and is the best in some time, even if the rating this week was universally disappointing for such a loaded show that was promoted as the biggest Dynamite of the year.”

Even Swerve Strickland recently stated that AEW’s backstage morale has been great lately. Fans hope AEW will only continue to improve in 2024 and leave behind all its past controversies.
