Sting has been a constant presence in AEW since his debut in December 2020, and is set to retire at AEW Revolution this year. His retirement tour is in full swing and fans are simply cherishing the time they have left with The Icon. A lot happened on Dynamite this week and Tony Khan checked up on Sting after the show went off the air.
Darby and Sting challenged Ricky Starks and Big Bill to a tag title match which was confirmed for this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite. Stark nearly clinched victory with a spear on Sting, who resiliently kicked out. However, Sting countered with his Scorpion Death Drop, securing the AEW World Tag Titles. Post-match, he welcomed his sons into the ring to celebrate the triumph.
The Young Bucks ambushed them from behind, unleashing a brutal assault. Despite Darby being busted open, the onslaught persisted. Sting’s sons weren’t spared as they were also laid out in the ring. The show concluded with fans expressing disapproval through boos in the aftermath of the attack.
After the show went off the air, AEW President Tony Khan could be seen checking up on Sting and even hugging him, while the latter lay in the ring following The Young Bucks’ assault.
It is evident The Young Bucks will be challenging Sting and Darby Allin for the AEW World Tag Team Championships at the AEW Revolution pay-per-view in March, so we will have to wait and see how the match will turn out.
