Cody Rhodes is currently a major Superstar in the wrestling world. With that said, former WWE star Justin Gabriel has revealed that he and Rhodes had a real-life altercation earlier in their careers.
Justin Gabriel was part of WWE from 2008 to 2015, notably as a member of the original Nexus faction in 2010. The 42-year-old had numerous in-ring encounters with Cody Rhodes, including notable matches on SmackDown and at live events in early 2012.
While speaking on Rene Dupree’s Cafe de Rene podcast, Justin Gabriel talked about the time he and Cody Rhodes got into a fistfight after Rhodes went to WWE Creative to change some storylines.
“Me and Cody back in the day had a little tiff but nothing serious. He went to creative and he got some storylines kiboshed, but nothing too serious. I think we got into a fist fight over it once. We sorted that out real quick. I’m sure he doesn’t even remember that.”
Justin Gabriel shared that when Cody Rhodes initially confronted him, he thought it was a joke. Gabriel responded with quick reactions, pushing Rhodes away. As the situation escalated, with Gabriel laughing, it angered Rhodes even further. In the end, Mark Henry and Booker T eventually intervened to separate them.
“I thought he was joking at first, so he kinda like swung and I kinda did this [fell back] and I pushed him away. I’m a fighter for real too, so very quick reactions. Then when I realized he was serious, I was like, ‘Oh, s***, he’s trying to fight me!’ I was laughing, laughing, and that just p****** him off even more, and then by that time Mark Henry and Booker were there to pull us apart.”
This was certainly an interesting story concerning Cody Rhodes, which just goes to show emotions can run wild in the pro wrestling world sometimes. Nonetheless, the two didn’t take it to heart and that’s all that matters now.
