CM Punk sustained a triceps injury at the Royal Rumble, raising uncertainty about his involvement in WrestleMania 40. Unfortunately, he will be unable to participate in both the Elimination Chamber event leading up to WrestleMania and the main WrestleMania event itself. It was suggested that he was going to do commentary while he recovers, but now we have a clarification on that matter.
CM Punk’s announcement on Monday Night RAW last week confirmed his genuine injury, shattering hopes of him headlining WrestleMania 40. It was noted that he would be out of action 4-6 months after surgery.
During a recent Wrestling Perspective Podcast, Punk’s close friend Ace Steel mentioned that WWE is interested in having Punk on commentary. According to Sean Ross Sapp behind Fightufl’s paywall, there have been no discussions about CM Punk taking on a commentary role, and he is not expected to be at the Performance Center in the coming weeks.
The notion of CM Punk’s potential commentary work, as mentioned in the Ace Steel podcast, was merely a suggestion made by Steel and not a confirmed plan.
”There was no discussion of CM Punk doing commentary, and he’s not expected to be at the PC the next few weeks. We’re told the Ace Steel podcast of Punk being planned for upcoming commentary work was simply a suggestion of Steel’s.”
CM Punk’s abandoned WWE plans before his injury were also revealed. We will have to wait and see what WWE will have planned for Punk once he makes his triumphant in-ring return.
