Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams’ once-strong NXT friendship took a dark turn at Vengeance Day when Hayes betrayed Williams. The fallout caused chaos on NXT, with Hayes even attacking Joe Gacy after the show.
Following Melo’s betrayal of Trick Williams at NXT Vengeance Day, the former NXT Champion reveled in triumph, much to the disapproval of the NXT audience at the WWE Performance Center. He even trolled the fans by pulling a Shawn Michaels and playing Trick Williams’ entrance music when Williams wasn’t even there.
Starting the show with a classic heel justification for his actions on Sunday night and wrapping it up by asserting his own bid for the NXT Championship through an attack on Ilja Dragunov – it’s safe to say Melo didn’t make many missteps this week.
However, Melo’s actions didn’t end with the conclusion of NXT. Footage posted on the WWE NXT Twitter account revealed that another member of the roster, Joe Gacy, was also blindsided by the 29-year-old. Gacy, oblivious and carrying a boxing glove on a stick, had played a significant role in the main event’s conclusion just moments before.
Clearly irked by Gacy’s antics, Melo attacked him from behind, slamming him shoulder-first into the barricade. This only fueled more disdain from the live crowd. It is evident the two will begin feuding soon, so we will have to wait and see how their storyline will progress in the coming weeks.
