Gunther has been one of WWE’s workhorses in recent months. Ever since he won the Intercontinental Championship, there has been no stopping him.

Gunther has defeated everyone on his quest to become the greatest Intercontinental Champion of all time. Despite his dominant run as champion, there have been calls for the Ring General to step up and replace Brock Lesnar.

This comes after Brock Lesnar was referenced in the sex trafficking lawsuit filed by Janel Grant against Vince McMahon. Since the news broke, Lesnar was replaced in the Royal Rumble match by Bron Breakker and he was also removed from the cover of WWE 2K24’s 40 Years of WrestleMania.

On a recent episode of Tuesday with the Taskmaster, Kevin Sullivan stated that it was time for Gunther to step up and challenge Seth Rollins for the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 40.

“I think they’ll have a hell of a match. Yeah, but I think you have to keep going with Gunther,” said Sullivan. “It looks like you’ve lost Brock, who people pay to see. Right now, [Gunther], is the top horse in your stable that isn’t on the racetrack every day and you’ve got to keep him fed and clothed.”

Kevin Sullivan also said that the Ring General needs to win the World Title so that he can get to the next level since Lesnar may never return.

“Well, Gunther needs to win a belt. I mean a World Title. He needs to step up because Brock is going to be gone. I don’t think we’ll ever see Brock again.”

Prior to the 2024 Royal Rumble, Gunther did indicate that he planned on coming for Seth Rollins after winning the Rumble. While the Ring General may not have won the Rumble, he is more than deserving of a World Title shot.
