Cody Rhodes was originally slated to headline WrestleMania 40 against Roman Reigns after winning the Royal Rumble. However, WWE essentially replaced him with The Rock and this caused a lot of controversy. After what transpired on RAW this week, Rhodes acknowledged the ‘We Want Cody’ movement as well.

Cody Rhodes squared off against Shinsuke Nakamura in a bull rope match in the main event of this week’s episode of Monday Night RAW. Sami Zayn made the save, leading to Rhodes’ victory over Shinsuke Nakamura.

After Monday Night RAW went off the air, Sami Zayn cut a promo on Cody Rhodes, stating that it didn’t matter what he had to say as the only thing that mattered was what the fans said, which was ‘We Want Cody.’

”It doesn’t matter what i think or have to say to you, matters what they have to say to you. And I’m pretty sure they got three words to you that I’ve been hearing all week online, words I was hearing when we walked into the building and the crowd were screaming before event even started.”

Cody Rhodes would then follow suit as the crowd erupted with ‘We Want Cody’ chants after the show. Rhodes addressed the chants and admitted that he was an emotional mess.

”They’re freaking out right now because I’m bleeding, so I definitely need to go get it looked at, but those three words, well all I can say is this: since I was a little boy who grew up loving everything, for you to want me is special because I have always wanted you, I love you guys so much, I’m an emotional mess. Please let’s hear it for the man who just came and saved my ass, Sami Zayn.”

WWE’s intentions for The Rock taking away Cody Rhodes’ WrestleMania 40 spot has also been revealed. Only time will tell what will become of The American Nightmare in the end.
