The Rock vs. Roman Reigns was originally planned for WrestleMania 39, but due to The Great One’s hectic schedule, he couldn’t be physically prepared for the bout. The match is now more or less confirmed for this year’s WrestleMania. In fact, WWE is now defiant in promoting The Rock despite fan backlash.

To build up hype for the already highly anticipated match, The Rock disclosed that discussions about a showdown with The Head of The Table are already in progress. Naturally, this revelation sparked a ton of excitement among fans.

However, many fans wanted him to face Roman Reigns after WrestleMania instead. That might have just changed as The Rock confronted Roman Reigns on SmackDown this week after Cody Rhodes confirmed he won’t face Reigns at WrestleMania 40.

This led to a ton of fan backlash, as they clearly want Cody Rhodes to finish his story instead. In spite of this, WWE took to their official Facebook page and changed the cover photo to The Rock. Unsurprisingly, the photo got an overwhelmingly negative reception, with over 13K angry reactions.

WWE is also closely monitoring fan reactions to The Rock’s WrestleMania 40 plans. The Rock and Roman Reigns will have face-off at the WrestleMania 40 kickoff event as well. We will have to wait and see how WWE will continue to book The Rock and Roman Reigns’ feud till then.
