The Rock has been credited as one of the biggest and most influential stars in the entire entertainment world. The Great One has now added another milestone to his portfolio by joining WWE’s parent company, TKO Group Holdings as a member of the Board of Directors.
WWE Hall of Famer Jeff Jarrett recently spoke about The Rock’s arrival to TKO on his My World With Jeff Jarrett podcast. He stated that the company brought the 10-time WWE champion on board due to his immense knowledge and expertise about the business, potentially filling a gap left by the exit of Vince McMahon.
Jarrett also mentioned that The Rock, in his view, was now the most powerful man in wrestling today, sitting at the helm of important corporate decisions.
“To me, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is on top of the industry. They’re gonna look to him on that board for wrestling expertise. Not business expertise but when you really drill it down and they’re sitting around the table on having to make decisions, Ariel is brilliant in talent. There’s no doubt about it.
“Nick Khan, a dealmaker, and a brilliant talent, was a mega talent agent for years. But when you get down to a professional wrestling component of it, when you drill it right down, The Rock is the most powerful man in wrestling today.”
The Rock joined the board days before former TKO Executive Chairman Vince McMahon resigned after being accused of sex trafficking and misconduct by former WWE employee, Janel Grant.
The People’s Champion has already begun to show his prowess in corporate decisions by reportedly being a major force in pushing for his WrestleMania 40 dream showdown against Roman Reigns, which was hinted at in a big way following the events of SmackDown.
While his intent was to save WrestleMania after major stars like CM Punk and Brock Lesnar were ruled out, The Rock’s involvement has received major backlash who instead wanted The American Nightmare Cody Rhodes to be in that position and finish his story.
Do you think The Rock should step out of the potential WrestleMania match following recent backlash? Sound off in the comments!
