One of the most anticipated matches of WWE NXT: Vengeance Day is the NXT Championship match between Trick Williams and Ilja Dragunov.

This match has been months in the making ever since Williams pulled off a spectacular win in the Iron Survivor Challenge. These two men were supposed to meet a couple of weeks ago, but the match got postponed due to Ilja Dragunov’s injury.

Hence, the match was scheduled to take place tonight at NXT Vengeance Day meaning that Trick Williams will have to pull double duty as he will also be competing in the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic finals against Bron Breakker and Baron Corbin.

Both men put on an exciting match. Williams brought the fight to Ilja Dragunov and came so close to beating him. Carmelo Hayes was a constant distraction in the match. At one point, he tried to get involved but was shoved by Trick into Williams hurting his knee.

Hayes then climbed on the apron at a later point in the match and had distracted the referee. Trick accidentally knocked out the referee during this time. Trick had the match won when he hit the Trick knee but there was no referee to count the pinfall. In the end, Dragunov picked up the win with the Torpedo Moscow.

Following the match, Hayes turned on Williams and brutally attacked the injured knee with a steel chair multiple times.

After this betrayal, it remains to be seen what is the reason given by Hayes for the assault on the man he called his brother. Stay tuned to Ringside News as we stay on this story.
