After spending several years in the WWE, Adam Copeland shocked the world when he showed up in AEW under a new name. The fans were very happy to see Copeland arrive in AEW.
Since his arrival in AEW, Copeland has been involved in a heated rivalry against his former best friend and tag team partner Christian Cage. The two men have even battled each other multiple times. In fact, Copeland even won the TNT Championship from Christian Cage for a brief moment before it was taken away from him.
Copeland seems to be having a great wrestling so many young talents that he has never faced before in his career. His excitement is quite evident in his face every time he performs in the ring.
Adam Copeland recently did an interview with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated where he spoke about the importance of having options in professional wrestling.
“Any time there is more than one place to ply your trade, that’s good for everyone who is part of that trade,” said Copeland. “A monopoly is never a good idea. That goes for me as a consumer, too.“
From a customer’s standpoint, Copeland believes it is good to have multiple choices. He also mentioned that fans don’t have to choose just one but they can follow all the promotions out there.
“As a consumer, I want more choices. That doesn’t mean you have to choose one over the other. You can choose them all. I remember growing up and dying to be able to get my hands on NWA tapes. It didn’t air where I lived, where there was WWF. I found International Wrestling from Montreal. I found All-Star Wrestling from Vancouver. I found all these other shows, and I loved that. I’d get little snippets of guys I’d only seen in magazines. Then the show Pro Wrestling Plus with Ed Whalen, who was the announcer for Stampede, started, and I finally got to see wrestlers from the NWA and Continental. I just thought, give it all to me.“
Finally, Copeland opened up about AEW and said that he is having a blast in his new promotion.
“That’s why AEW is great. It’s so cool to see different wrestling. This is really special, and I’m having a blast being here.”
Adam Copeland is still not done with Christian Cage and the TNT Championship. He is working from the back of the line and has promised to earn another shot at the title. It’s only a matter of time before the Rated R Superstar earns another shot at the title now that the ranking system is back in AEW.
