Shawn Michaels Addresses William Regal’s Future In WWE NXT

William Regal has been credited as one of the most remarkable British wrestlers of all time. The former NXT General Manager made a surprising return to WWE NXT after nearly two year gap. It appears, his return as a cameo on NXT may be extended for additional appearances.

During the January 23rd episode of NXT, Regal returned to WWE television in a segment with The Rock’s daughter and current NXT star, Ava Raine. He announced Ava as the new general manager of NXT. Recently, Shawn Michaels shared his thoughts about Regal’s future on the show.

During the NXT Vengeance Day media call, Shawn was asked about Regal’s future on NXT television. He shared that Regal’s phone is always open for Ava and he’s there to help her in any way he can. He also hinted at possible future cameos from Regal, citing his “staple and foundational” nature.

“He came down here recently to endorse our new GM Ava. She’s already wielding pretty good power and doing a good job. As he mentioned to Ava, his phone is always open, he is there for her counsel in any way he can help. Here at NXT, when you have a staple and a foundational person like William Regal, you have to have more than just one shot with him here and there.“

“I think everybody was extremely excited about his brief cameo on NXT television. I have no doubt we will have some other cameos by William Regal in the future as well.” 

Regal parted ways with WWE in January 2022 and signed with AEW soon after. However, Regal chose not to renew his contract with AEW to make a return to WWE to be with his son Charlie Dempsey. While Regal couldn’t appear on television in 2023 due to a clause in his AEW contract, he continued to work behind the scenes as the Vice President of Global Talent Development.

Regal was an important figure in shaping NXT’s initial days. His return to television is surely a nice surprise to fans. Meanwhile, stay tuned to Ringside News for more updates.
