Emma first signed with WWE in 2011 and started appearing on the NXT brand in 2012. She quickly was able to get over with the fans as soon as she changed her gimmick.

In 2013, she took on the gimmick of a clumsy dancer who would perform what would later be known as the Emma dance. She ended up getting notable wins over the likes of Bayley.

When Emma made her debut in the main roster, fans took to her gimmick. However, she was never pushed as the top star and was eventually released from her contract. Following her exit, Emma went on to have a pretty decent run in TNA formerly IMPACT Wrestling before returning to the company for a brief run in 2022.

During a recent virtual signing with Captain’s Corner, Emma opened up about the origins of her dancing gimmick. She credited Byron Saxton for being the inspiration behind her gimmick.

“I guess I was always just giving myself a hard time like joking and being the butt of the joke just to make other people laugh so it just started with that. Then Byron Saxton actually helped me out with the dance, he was doing some kind of Egyptian thing. Then that turned into the Emma dance as we put it together and yeah, we just went for it and that’s kind of how it came about.”

Emma was one of the people released last year. She had her final WWE televised match against Shayna Baszler and hasn’t wrestled since her release but she has indicated that she isn’t done with the business.
