WWE Hall of Famer Rick Steiner paved the way for many tag team specialists to succeed in the industry. Unfortunately, he landed himself in hot water following transphobic accusations. Now he is set for his first pro wrestling appearance after the scandal last year.
Last year on International Transgender Day of Visibility, TNA star Gisele Shaw shared that Rick Steiner called her a lot of transphobic slurs and hateful words that ended up baffling fans at WrestleCon.
Unsurprisingly, Rick Steiner faced a ton of backlash for his remarks. Even Chris Jericho called Rick Steiner a bully after the ordeal. It was also reported that Rick Steiner would be on a strict zero-tolerance policy for any future events going forward.
This Sunday, February 4, MCW will present Fan Jam 2 at the R.J. Meyer Arena in Joppa, MD, featuring over 30 wrestling stars for photo opportunities and autographs. The event will also feature Rick Steiner, which will be his first pro wrestling appearance following the transphobic controversy.
Rick Steiner issued a private apology in a mediated meeting to members of TNA but Gisele Shaw refused to be present for it. Nonetheless, we’ll have to see if he will be on his best behavior at the MCW fan event this week.
