Cody Rhodes has just one goal in mind and that’s to finish the story and become the World Champion at WrestleMania 40. To make that a reality, Rhodes was determined to win the Royal Rumble. He finally accomplished that and then decided to cut an emotional promo after the show went off the air.
The American Nightmare entered the Men’s Royal Rumble match last night with a lot of hope and determination to prevail. He would end up eliminating top stars such as Gunther and finally CM Punk in order to punch his ticket to WrestleMania 40.
Cody Rhodes addressed the Tropicana Field crowd after the cameras stopped rolling, offering an apology for not finishing his story at WrestleMania 39. Expressing gratitude for making the Tampa Bay area ‘Cody territory,’ Rhodes assured fans that things will be different at WrestleMania 40 and thanked them for an amazing show.
Rhodes acknowledged the significance of Dusty territory in Tampa and St. Pete, expressing love for the fans and promising to see them next time.
“Tampa, St. Pete, Did you have a great time tonight? Guys I owe you an apology. I am sorry about what happened at WrestleMania 39. But we’re going to WrestleMania 40.
“It’s been a long night I won’t keep you here, an amazing show, an amazing crew, an amazing production.
“Sometimes when I come to Tampa, when I come to St Pete, sometimes I try and stay and keep to myself, the reason is – this is Dusty territory. So I thank you very much, for making it a Cody territory.
“I love you guys all so much. Have a great night and I’ll see you next time.”
Roman Reigns has already reacted to Cody Rhodes wining the Royal Rumble match. It remains to be seen whether Cody Rhodes will finally be able to finish the story this time around.
