WWE superstar Cody Rhodes previously faced off against Roman Reigns on WrestleMania 39. While the match was of epic proportions, it turned out that Rhodes lost due to interference from Solo Sikoa. This was far from a fair match, which is unfortunate given the stakes involved. Now, Rhodes wants the chance at the upcoming WrestleMania event to “finish the story” as he intends it.

While appearing on Busted Open Radio, Rhodes was faced with the question if he has to finish the story of him winning the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at the upcoming grand event. He said that he would have been fine with the loss if the match had been fair and square. Rhodes added that before he decides to rightfully win the championship, he would have to emerge victorious in the upcoming events.

“I don’t think I have a definitive answer, but I will tell you, I think it does. The reason being, if last year, the match had gone differently. If last year Roman had just beaten me 1-2-3, right in the middle, I just crumbled under the lights and I wasn’t on his level, that’s a different story. The way the match unfolded and the year I have, it feels like it has to be at WrestleMania. It just seems like it’s coming full circle. Everything can change. You have to get to WrestleMania in the first place, whether you win the Royal Rumble or the Elimination Chamber. It’s not an easy task. It would have been different if this was the first time.

The Rock’s return has recently made things complicated. While Rhodes was previously considered to be the top choice as the opponent against Roman Reigns, many people have voiced that they would finally want to see The Rock lock horns with the Tribal Chief.

In a recent conversation, Mickie James also backed The Rock as a viable opponent for Reigns. She said that while she loves Cody, the opportunity to have The Rock vs Roman Reigns is something that WWE would not want to pass up.
