CM Punk recently made his return to WWE, surprising fans and receiving an unprecedented reaction. The WWE star spent a lot of time away from the company, having fought in the UFC and even AEW. Now that he’s back almost a decade later, fans are expecting a thunderous performance from him at WWE Royal Rumble 2024.
On the latest episode of his vlog for WWE, Punk commented on his upcoming in-ring appearance at the Royal Rumble. Punk expressed that the last time the WWE audience saw him, he was dealing with health issues, disillusionment, and various challenges. The Royal Rumble match holds special importance as it allows him to revisit these emotions and moments in his career. The anticipation and emotion surrounding this return are expected to be amplified when he makes his entrance, with “Cult of Personality” playing in the background.
“The shadow that is looming over me is the fact that this is my first televised WWE match in ten years and almost, probably on the anniversary of when I left. There is a lot of emotion and a lot of ghosts that I still have to get rid of. I think it’s going to be very cathartic on Saturday to kind of exercise those ghosts. The last time this audience saw me, sick, hurt, disillusioned, and I made it such a big deal in my career about not so much winning a Rumble, but main eventing WrestleMania, that it took on this life of its own to where, my ten years away from WWE, realizing that it became a much bigger thing than it was to me and to get the opportunity to come back here and revisit all these things. There is a lot of emotion. I know it’s going to be amplified (at the Rumble). When that red light goes on and my name gets called and you hear Cult of Personality, I just hope everyone knows the lyrics.”
As CM Punk gears up for his long-awaited return to the WWE stage at Royal Rumble 2024, the wrestling world is abuzz with anticipation and emotion. It’s also worth noting that CM Punk has previously implied that it was always in his game plan to main-event WrestleMania 40. Ahead of the event, he was seen training with top WWE talents such as Bron Breakker, Carmelo Hayes, and Trick Williams.
